A 26x optical zoom NIKKOR lens that covers a broad
focal range of wide-angle 26mm through super-telephoto 678mm (35mm
format equivalent)
Equipped with an incredible 26x optical zoom NIKKOR lens, this camera
supports shooting at a broad range of focal lengths with 35mm format
equivalent angles of view of 26mm up to 678mm. In addition, macro
shooting as close as 1 cm (0.4 in.) to the lens is also possible. When
digital zoom is added to the maximum optical zoom ratio, shooting at a
35mm format equivalent angle of view of 2712mm is supported.

The COOLPIX P100 is equipped with a number of new technologies and
functions that enable capture of images exhibiting excellent image
quality. CMOS sensor with backside illumination structure:
The camera is equipped with a CMOS sensor with backside illumination
structure that increases the amount of light that each pixel receives.
This enables capture of images exhibiting less noise at the high
sensitivities required for night landscapes and pictures taken indoors
under dim lighting. Backlit Scene HDR (high dynamic range) mode:
A new Backlit Scene HDR scene mode has been added to enable capture of
intended photographs. When this mode is selected, the camera combines
multiple images captured with continuous shooting to create an image
with a broader dynamic range for beautiful photos with less loss of
detail in highlights and shadows, even when the subject is backlit. Advanced Night Landscape mode:
When Night Landscape scene mode is selected, the camera automatically
captures several images and then combines the images to create a single
optimized photo. This allows for the capture of beautiful night
landscapes that exhibit less blur and noise.

High-speed continuous shooting functions that enable
continuous shooting of images at the maximum size (10 MP) at 10 fps and
sport continuous mode, which allows for continuous shooting at up to
approximately 120 fps
High-speed continuous shooting of images at the maximum 10-MP size (3648
x 2736) at 10 fps and sport continuous mode, which allows for
continuous shooting at up to approximately 120 fps*, are possible.
Sport continuous mode improves the chances of capturing the perfect
picture with a Pre-Shooting Cache function that records up to five shots
just before the shutter is released.

Full HD movie recording and playback functions
The COOLPIX P100 is equipped with a function for recording full HD
movies with stereo sound(1080p:1920 x 1080). Movie recording can be
initiated by simply pressing the movie-record button on the back of the
camera. The HS movie function provides the added benefit of recording
movies that can be played back in slow motion or fast motion. Movies
recorded with the camera can be enjoyed in their original
high-definition quality by connecting the camera to the HDMI port on a
high-definition TV.

Color Display simplifies shooting from a variety of angles
The camera is equipped with a vari-angle monitor that improves operation
and increases flexibility with shooting from conventionally difficult
angles. The monitor can be tilted 82 degrees downward and 90 degrees
upward for simpler shooting from a variety of angles.

The COOLPIX P100 supports high sensitivities up to ISO 3200 and offers
an image-sensor shift vibration reduction function, motion detection,
Nikon's own BSS (best shot selector) function, and also offers a new
vibration reduction that combines the image-sensor shift system with
electronic vibration reduction. The secure grip also helps to reduce
camera shake.

Up to approximately 840 still images or 7 hours of HD movies can be
recorded with the supplied Energizer® Ultimate Lithium AA
batteries (FR6/L91)* Utilizing convenient and readily available AA
batteries means that the batteries can be easily replaced, anytime and
anywhere, should the current batteries become exhausted.

Recording stops automatically after 29 minutes. This figure is
based on in-house testing standards and stated for recording at 25° C
with AA-size/R6 lithium batteries. Actual results may vary greatly
depending on factors that include differences in ambient temperature,
